Speed Skating is an excellent fitness activity for people of all ages. Depending on skater's interests and abilities, competitions can be attended locally, or at higher levels, while many skaters choose to skate purely for enjoyment and recreation. An ideal family sport, everyone can skate!

In addition to our regular on-ice coaching program which runs from September to March, we host several special events. We launch into September with the Learn to Speed Skate course, where new, prospective skaters can try out our sport. Two in-club Mini-Meets, one at the beginning and the other at the end of each season, gives our members an opportunity to measure their progress.

For those members who enjoy participating in competitions, there are about eight competitive Speed Skating meets within Ontario open to registered Speed Skaters of all ages.

We currently skate at the RIM Sports Complex, at 2001 University Avenue East in Waterloo. We skate on Mondays at 6.00 to 8.00 p.m., Thursdays at 7.00 to 9.00 p.m. and on many Saturday mornings at 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m.

Want to try out Speed Skating? If you missed the Learn-to-Speed-Skate course in September, you can come out and take part in it any time through the year on our Saturday morning ice sessions. Contact Doug Flynn for more information.

In addition to practices, our club has several official events throughout the season: two Mini-Meets, Badge Program, Marion Hanje Classic and Skate-A-Thon. Please check the Club Events and Club News pages for more details.
