About Us
The K-W Sertoma Speed Skating Club was formed in 1963 by a group of interested families. It remains a family-oriented club with skaters of all ages, including Special Olympic Athletes.
On-ice instruction is tailored to groups of different ages & abilities; young children, youth, and adults of all ages are welcome. Some skaters follow the more competitive stream, and some are interested in the fitness & social aspects of the sport.
Our team of dedicated volunteer coaches develop a program tailored to suit each skater. Our NCCP coaches receive ongoing training from the Ontario Speed Skating Association, as well as other training programs.
Our competitive skaters, the KW Cobras, participate in many meets run by Ontario clubs, and beyond. We have Short Track, Long Track, and Marathon skaters. Some competitive skaters qualify to go to Provincial & National Championships, as well as the Ontario & Canada Winter Games.
2011-2012 Season Membership
Hot off the press, information for the upcoming 2011-2012 KWSSSC season has been posted. The ice schedule is available in PDF format (and will be updated on the Schedule page soon) and registration details, including pricing for the new season, are below.
2011-2012 Full Membership:
Full club membership includes on-ice instruction and training sessions during all scheduled ice training times ( Monday evening, Thursday evening and Saturday morning), plus OSSA membership dues.
Single membership: $280
Family membership: $600
Student membership: $220
Associate membership: $20 (non-skating adults involved in club activities)
Affiliate membership: $90 (Coaches who do not skate competitively, and members training at a National Training Centre)
To apply for Full Membership, please download and complete the Full Membership form, read the Club's Code of Conduct Agreement and sign the Code of Conduct signature form (return this with your membership application).
2-day Membership:
2-day club membership includes on-ice instruction and training sessions during one evening (choose Monday OR Thursday) plus all Saturday morning scheduled ice training times, plus OSSA membership dues.
Single membership: $230
Family membership: $495

Skate Rentals
A limited number of Bont and Pass speed skates are available for rental for the skating season. The rental fee includes skate maintenance and use of the skates for all training sessions and events.

Monday from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM, Thursday from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM, and Saturday from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM (Learn To Speed Skate and Special Olympic Athletes skate 10am-11am).
Ice Schedule: There are some days where the ice is not booked for the regularly scheduled times above, so check the Schedule page for our confirmed ice times. All ice times are held at RIM Sports Complex, 2001 University Avenue East, Waterloo, Ontario, unless otherwise noted.
